The Cartoon Show You Probably Haven't Heard Of, But Should've

It's safe to assume that growing up cartoons were a major source of entertainment. And seeing the ones out now-a-days makes you wonder, what the hell happened to cartoons?! One show that I continue to watch came out at the beginning of this new cartoon age and doesn't exactly qualify. To this day, Regular Show is one of my favorite cartoons of all time! While the title may be somewhat misleading, this show is anything but regular.
There's an element of relatable when you watch these adventures unfold. Looking back, the amount of adult jokes that I missed in episodes as a kid is crazy too!
Mordecai (J.G. Quntel), a blue jay, and Rigby (William Slayers), a raccoon, are two friends in their 20's that work as groundskeepers at the local park. As much as Mordecai is trying to take this new job and life seriously, there's the part of him where laziness takes over from Rigby's influence and fun takes priority. Time and time again the two of them suffer the consequences of their irresponsibility and the supernatural always plays some sort of factor.
Also along on the ride is their boss Benson (Sam Marin), a gumball machine, Skips (Mark Hamill), the yeti handyman, Pops (Sam Marin), an old man with an unnaturally large head and high-pitched voice, Muscle Man (Sam Marin), a literal green troll and Hi-Five Ghost (Jeff Bennett).
Here's a few of my favorite episodes from the first two seasons of Regular Show:
Season 1:
Episode 1: Pilot

The series kicks off with Mordecai and Rigby playing a game of rock, paper, scissors to see who gets to keep a chair Pops is throwing out. Only problem is they tie 99 times and summon a monster through a black hole.
Episode 2: The Power

After punching a hole in the wall, Mordecai and Rigby need to get some money to fix the hole. Rigby finds a magical keyboard that lets them do or get anything they want. The only thing is is that they, along with everyone else, get transported to the Moon and have to figure out how to get back to Earth.
Episode 3: Just Set Up the Chairs

There's a birthday party that's supposed to go down at the park. All of the jobs have been handed out and Mordecai and Rigby are stuck with setting up the chairs. For a job that seems incredibly simple for anyone else to accomplish, they make it a lot harder than it has to be...
Episode 5: Death Punchies

It's just another day of playing video games when Mordecai and Rigby get into an argument about who can be Player 1. They decide to settle it with a game a punchies (where you literally punch someone in the arm and see who calls it quits first). Rigby, being incredibly small and weak as he is, loses and tries to find a way to beat Mordecai. He finds an ad in a phone book for a karate school where they teach Death Kwon Do. Mordecai finds out about Rigby's plan to get back at him and learns the ways of the mullet and jorts too.
Episode 8: Grilled Cheese Deluxe

We've all been in that situation when one lie leads to another and karma hits. Mordecai and Rigby "accidentally" eat a grilled cheese sandwich that was Benson's. When they're in line at the restaurant getting a new sandwich, two astronauts cut to the front. Rigby is able to convince everyone that they're astronauts too and they end up going to the compound that these astronauts work at. From there, the lies lead them to either telling the truth or letting the city be destroyed.
Episode 10: Prank Callers

It's all fun and games until it happens to you, right? Mordecai and Rigby are watching internet videos one day when they come across the Master Prank Caller, the best prank caller in the world. They make it their mission to try and prank him. The thing is, the Master Prank Caller ends up teleporting them through their phones to 1982. Now, they need to prank call him back in order to get back to the present.
Season 2:
Episode 4: Peeps

When you have a job you don't particularly like, it gets to the point where you don't really care as much. That's exactly what's happening in Mordecai and Rigby's case. Benson, however, has another plan up his sleeve to keep Mordecai and Rigby in check. He buys different levels of security surveillance through a company called Peeps. To his surprise, Mordecai and Rigby are able to disarm all of them. Benson's left with no other choice but to buy the deluxe package, Jeepers Peepers X-Infinity. Now the duo has this giant eyeball following them around and the only way to make it leave is winning a staring contest.
Episode 6: My Mom

Mordecai and Rigby aren't able to successfully pick up a lemon tree. Benson decides to put Muscle Man and Hi-Five Ghost in charge of them until they get another one. After spending some quality time with them, Mordecai and Rigby realize that they aren't so bad after all. The only thing that still bugs Mordecai is Muscle Man's "My Mom!" jokes. Muscle Man's running bit in the series is always ending his jokes with that saying. It gets to the point where Mordecai can't take it anymore and corrects Muscle Man on how he should be using it in jokes. Muscle Man doesn't really appreciate that!
Episode 7: High Score

When payday comes around, Benson decides to give Mordecai and Rigby their money in ziploc bags. The two of them are pretty pissed off at Benson's disrespect. They decide to go to the local coffee shop to take an extended break. A new video game machine is there called Broken Bonez. After losing to a couple of kids, they stay around for a while and try to improve their game. It gets to the point where they break the world record causing a giant bearded head to show up claiming he owns the universe record.
Episode 8: Rage Against the TV

Mordecai and Rigby just bought a new video game called The Hammer. They're able to make it to the boss level only to have their TV stop working. They have to ask around to find a new TV in order to beat The Hammer.
Episode 9: Party Pete

This is one of the very few episodes where Benson decides to take some time off from his park managing duties. Mordecai and Rigby have the house to themsleves then. They decide to throw their own party but its tanking. They decide to call up this party service and ask for Party Pete (who helps save tanking parties). In order to get Party Pete to stay longer, Mordecai and Rigby give him some Radicola from the 1984 Olympics. What happens next is nothing short of unexpected.
Episode 13: This Is My Jam

We've all had a time where we listen to a song over and over again and can't get it out of our head. In this case, Rigby finds an old cassette with a song that was popular back in his middle school days. He gets hooked on it again and can't get it out of his head. He tries to with Mordecai's help but the cassette manifests into a being. Now Mordecai, Rigby and the rest of the guys have to come up with an equally catchy and terrible song to destroy it.
Episode 18: Do Me a Solid

The solid is a very sacred rule that exists between friends. That's not exactly the case with Mordecai and Rigby though. The guys are about to go on a double date with Margaret (Janie Tompkins), a robin, and Eileen (Minty Lewis), a humanoid mole. The two of them start abusing the solid to where its interfering with their dates. At the end of the night, Rigby asks Mordecai to do a solid that's worth at least 10. The park starts collapsing around them and only way to make it stop is if Mordecai acts like he's a dump truck and takes a dump in the middle of the living room in front of everyone.
Episode 19: Grave Sights

At the morning employee meeting, Benson says that someone can get a paid day off if they think of a way to pay for damages around the park. Mordecai and Rigby have the brilliant idea of having a scary movie night in the abandoned cemetery. In the middle of the screening, Rigby knocks over the projector and raises the dead. Now everybody has to work together to kill these zombies before Benson finds out.
Episode 20: Really Real Wrestling

Mordecai and Rigby are wrestling in the living room one day. Pops sees them and wants to get in on the action, being a former wrestler himself back in the day. But Mordecai and Rigby break his back. Later that night Pops sneaks off to a "WWE" wrestling tournament happening downtown and takes Huge Head's place, who's a no show. Mordecai and Rigby have to track him down before Benson notices he's gone.
Episode 23: A Bunch of Baby Ducks

When cleaning out the water fountain, Mordecai and Rigby find a couple of abandoned baby ducks. They decide to take them in and show them their ways. Benson wants them gone but Mordecai and Rigby want to keep them a little longer. But when a creepy old duck collector answers their ad and steals them, they have to enlist in the help of their mother to save them.
Episode 25: Go Viral

One day Mordecai and Rigby waiting to use the house computer while Muscle Man and Hi-Five Ghost are watching funny internet videos. Annoyed that they aren't getting their time on the computer, Mordecai and Rigby challenge them to see who can get more views with their own funny videos by the end of the week. They end up getting sucked into "the cloud" and need to escape from the Warden of the Internet.
Episode 27: Karaoke Video

The Sunday scaries are the real deal and its never pretty when you check your snap story the next day. Mordecai and Rigby have a night on the town and hit up a karaoke club. The next day they find this VHS tape where they're singing "We're Not Gonna Take It", where they're trashing everyone at the park. What's worse is that they find out that's going to be the promo tape used at the club. So when Benson wants to take everybody over there the next day for a mandatory fun night, Mordecai and Rigby have to find the master tape and destroy it.
